Here Are Some Famous Wedding Movies to Watch
These famous wedding movies are great for you and your sweetie to watch on date night or whenever you want to spend time together. Famous wedding movies are also terrific to show at the bridesmaids parties, the wedding shower, or get-togethers with girlfriends. Pass the tissues !!Here are some red-letter favorites in the category of famous wedding movies.
- Have you ever seen the original Father of the Bride? This is nothing like the Steve Martin version. It stars Spencer Tracy and Elizabeth Taylor as father and bride, respectively. Maybe Dad and Mom will enjoy watching this with you.
- And then there's the 1991 remake of Father of the Bride with Steve Martin as Dad and the inimitable Martin Short as the wedding consultant.
- Another oldie but goodie wedding movie is The Catered Affair with Bette Davis as the mom who wants her daughter, played by Debbie Reynolds, to have the perfect wedding, even if she can't afford it.
- Lovers and Other Strangers from 1970 is a famous wedding movie and comedy that brings the in-laws and family together trying to straighten up everything.
- A Wedding is a famous wedding movie with a stressed wedding coordinator, a nuisance photographer, the bride Muffin and her wayward boyfriend Dino. It's by Robert Altman, who made some of my favorite movies.
- Betsy's Wedding puts Betsy at odds with her parents who want a grand, over-the-top wedding, while Betsy prefers something small and intimate. Who hasn't had to deal with this problem?
- Four Weddings and a Funeral brings Hugh Grant and Andie MacDowell together at a wedding. Weddings are in the air for everybody, and there are some grand reception ideas to borrow from this wedding movie.
- I didn't expect to enjoy The Wedding Singer with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, who meet at several wedding occasions and fall in love. But it makes for a very pleasant movie night.
- Julia Roberts has been in several famous wedding movies, and she makes them memorable. There is My Best Friend's Wedding with Julia and Dermot Mulroney dealing with their confused feelings. And there is Runaway Bride with Julia as the girl who leaves three men standing at the altar because she can't face commitment. Richard Gere plays the reporter who gets the girl in the end. This is the one where Julia escapes from the ceremony by riding a horse in her wedding dress. I'll just mention the titles of a few more famous wedding movies, so you have plenty more to choose from.
